Giving for the Faith of Younger Generations

Bernadette Mabile

Bernadette's gift will support youth ministries that weren't available to her as a child.

Bernadette Mabile is a longtime volunteer at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever. She is single with no children, and has been teaching CCD for 40-plus years at St. Bridget, where she fell in love with the children in the parish. Bernadette has four siblings and 10 nieces and nephews who mean the world to her.

Bernadette has belonged to St. Bridget her entire life and has never been a parishioner anywhere else. When she was growing up, there was no youth ministry in the church, so it became important to her to ensure the youth of today had a program to strengthen their faith.

Knowing that she does not have children to inherit her assets, Bernadette wanted to plan a legacy where she left her church parish something that would ensure her support would continue on and keep the mission going forever. Therefore, she determined a percentage of her estate would be left to the parish. It was important to her to leave a legacy to the parish that would keep her passion for her faith and children alive.

"It was important for me to create a legacy for St. Bridget, so that the parish can continue to do the great work for our parishioners that we are doing today. Allocating a percentage of my estate was easy and the least I could do to support the parish that has helped me grow into the person I am today."
